  • As we sit here on the deck of our beautiful new home, we cannot believe we let our fears (of another storm, of the building process) delay our rebuilding for 41/2 years.

The experience with Traditional Craftsman in the planning of building our home actually turned out to be quite pleasant, and in the process we made two new very good friends (both Steve and Corky are amazing and very detailed-oriented – perfectionists). They walked us through every step, gave us some good advice, delivered a beautiful home in a very timely manner (62 days – it took us six months to decide to rebuild and get our plan together), and gave us more in the process than we anticipated. We are grateful.

Their services don’t end with the ‘turning over’ of the house, for which we are grateful also. We really owe Mary Ellen at Prudential Properties for referring us to this company and would unequivocally recommend them.

  • Thank you for building our dream home. We’ve lived here a year now and enjoy it more and more each day.

After losing our home in Gilchrist and all our possessions accumulated over a lifetime, we were too demoralized to even consider rebuilding and sold our lot to the ‘Buy-Out-People’. We bought in a high rise apartment in Houston and thought we had moved on… BUT as the poets say, “The allure of the sea called us back”.

The building process seemed too daunting but our long time neighbors, Bill and Kay Read highly recommended you. That told us a lot because in my negative frame of mind, I thought if the homeowner is still speaking to the builder, it’s pretty rare.

We interviewed three builders and chose your company, Traditional Craftsmen Homes, based on their recommendation and your offer to make it easy with a minimum of effort from us. And you did. I wasn’t even up to the tasks of looking at house plans so you took me around to look at the homes you had built and we came to an agreement on what we wanted. I said I didn’t want to make a lot of decision, just wanted a turn-key home and you delivered. You offered to make it handicapped accessible, something I hadn’t thought of but practical since we are of a certain age. I added a few extras and you had no problem with them. We knew exactly how much the extras would be with no surprises at closing.

We’ve been in our new home, The Lazy Doberman, for almost a year now and it truly is our Dream Home. If you need to show our home to a prospective customer, we will be glad to accommodate them and you.

  • When Hurricane Ike destroyed my parent’s beach house on Bolivar Peninsula in September, 2008, none of us realistically thought that the family would ever again be able to enjoy family gatherings and walks on the beach that we had all become so accustomed to. The idea of enjoying a beautiful, new home overlooking the Gulf of Mexico was just a distant dream.

Less than one year after Ike, Mr. Steve Burkhart of Traditional Craftsmen Homes made my parents and family’s dreams come true. When my parents spoke to Steve about building a new home on their site, Steve won them over by demonstrating his ability to construct a high quality home within a defined budget, and completing it on time. Throughout the construction process, Steve and his team skillfully managed the permitting and construction process. Impressively, Traditional Craftsmen Home met or exceeded every benchmark in the contract. My parent’s home was finished before the contracted completion date per the agreed budget. During construction, Steve and his crew communicated constantly with my parents and constantly impressed all of us with the quality of their work and their ability to run an efficient construction project. Upon completion of the house, Steve and crew have been responsive to all warranty inquiries and home improvement projects.

On behalf of the entire Lamoureux family, I would recommend Steve Burkhart and Traditional Craftsmen Homes to anybody that is interested in constructing a home and enjoying a quality construction experience.

  • This is a letter of recommendation for Traditional Craftsmen Home Builders. We were so pleased to have found the wonderful people behind the name. Their construction was fabulous. As we saw several of their houses being built at different stages insured us that we had made the right decision to choose Traditional Craftsmen. From pilings to rafters, floors and drywall, paint and all the finishing touches we had no worries regarding the construction of our new house. Their crews were a fine group of knowledgeable people working on the house as if it were their own. Corky and Steve could not have done anything more to satisfy our every want in our new home.

I would highly recommend Traditional Craftsmen Home Builders to anyone looking to build a great, strong and beautiful home.

  • We lost our beach house during Hurricane Ike. We received a brochure from Traditional Craftsmen Homes in the mail. The house plan on the card happened to be very similar to the one we had been considering. We gave Steve Burkhardt a call and arranged to view a house he was building in Anahuac, Texas. We were very impressed with it and arranged a meeting with him. We loved the plans for the Sandollar House and the price was agreeable. He began the house in early November, 2009 and we took possession on January 20, 2010. Considering there were three major holidays during that time, we thought the building time was exceptional.

We have loved the house from the first day. Any problems we had, and they were few, were quickly resolved.

We are happy to recommend Traditional Craftsman Homes. They were honest, dependable, and built a house for us that we are very proud to own.
